WHAT WE'RE ABOUT: Karin Marchus, owner and stylist at BOSTON CUTTERS SALON FOR COLOR has had a passion for hair since a young child. As a teenager she spent much of her time practicing the latest styles on her family and friends ....She began her career as a professional after graduating from Orange Coast College School of Cosmetology in California. She entered and won first place trophies in hair color and styling competitions in various competitive venues ....KUTS by Karin was her first salon in Lake Tahoe. While there she styled various celebrity performers including Joan Rivers, Kay Stevens and the Fifth Dimension as well as the comedian Avery Schreiber ....After moving to Portland, Oregon she opened Boston Cutters in 1981. Karin continues her early passion for coloring and cutting hair while putting her years of experience into every new client.

Add Shine and Repair Dry Thirsty Ends!

One of my favorite products I reach for when I start working with long hair, especially before a color application, is BC Repair Rescue-Sealed Ends. I smooth out the cuticle layer immediately with a small amount applied to the dry ends even before brushing through. Dull dry ends start feeling better instantly. After the color service is complete I apply it again.

This intensive cream/serum seals and prevents tangles and split ends. perfect for everyday on straight, curly or frizzy ends. If you flat iron your hair and want to freshen up the next day this restores the shine and smooth feel.

First we talk about your natural hair, I like to feel the texture, condition and see how much wave pattern you have.

Then we look together at styles, colors or cuts, it is always enlightening to hear what a client sees in a picture and why they like it. As we review the pros and cons, we start to develop a plan.

For instance, will the desired variations be compatible with the color of their skin or hair length, face shape, bangs or no bangs, etc. This consultation is always included with every service I offer.
